Skiing for a Good Cause

Despite the unusual warm weather we been experiencing, winter is upon us…in the mountains at least. The ski resorts are open and for the Trapper Trails Council that means one thing…it’s time for the Vertical Challenge! This is a skiing and snowboarding event that has been going on for eight years. The proceeds from this event help raise funds for supporting our ScoutReach program that helps provide a quality Scouting program for inner city youth that may not have the chance to participate in Scouting otherwise.

In years past, this event has been mostly for corporate sponsors and just held on a single day. This year we are bringing this event to everyone! Trapper Trails Council is holding the very first SEASON LONG EVENT! Absolutely ANYONE can participate! As participants hit the slops this season they’ll track their vertical feet skied or boarded through an app on their mobile device. This app will update our event leader board and those that have skied the most vertical feet by March 19, 2015 will be showered with praise, get some awesome prizes, and most of all each participant will know that they’ve helped provide Scouting to some of those that need it most!

In addition to the season long event Trapper Trails Council will be hosting a Scout/youth ski day at Snow Basin Ski Resort on January 19, 2015. Scouts, youth, parents and leaders are invited to spend the day on the mountain skiing and boarding, with stations and workshops put on by the snow patrol and the Council.

With so many ways to participate in this wonderful program there’s no excuse not to hit the slopes this winter for a good cause!
